Tanner's journey towards establishing the T L Roe Company began during his college days at St. Olaf College, where he initially pursued a career in architecture. While there, he also took courses in economics and accounting recognizing the desire to one day have his own business. Although initially considering architecture as his chosen path, his time working as a carpenter after college solidified his belief that construction was his true calling. After working for several custom home builders here in the valley, he eventually realized he desired the freedom to execute projects according to his own vision.

When it came to selecting the name for his company, Tanner drew inspiration from his great-great-grandfather, Lars Ingebrigtson Roe, who owned a furniture company named the L I Roe Company in Stanley, WI. To this day, Tanner's parents still have pieces of furniture from this company. The name T L Roe not only pays homage to his family's legacy but also forms the guiding principle of the T L Roe Company, and that is to create lasting pieces of work to be enjoyed for generations to come.

Tanner lives in Scottsdale with his wife, Madi, and future T L Roe member, James. When not on a construction site you can find him out running, hiking, or enjoying a good movie.
